Wave is travelling in + x direction because ωt and kx have opposite signs.

The standard equation is given by, y = a sin(ωt – kx + `phi`)

We have, y = 5 sin (100 πt – 0.4 πx)

Therefore, on comparing we get a = 5 m, ω = 100 πk = 0.4 π

We know that, v = λv. Therefore, we get

⇒ v = 5 × 50

⇒ v = 250 m/s
