Is anybody happier because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?
This day is almost over, and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter new a kindly word of you?
Did you give a cheerful greeting to the friend who came along?
Or a churlish sort of "Howdy" and then vanish in the throng?
Where you selfish pure and simple as you rushed along the way,
Or is someone mighty grateful for a deed you did today?
Can you say tonight, in imparting with the days that's slipping fast,
That you helped a single brother of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said;
Does a man whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?

उत्तर

Edgar Guest wrote the poem 'Have You Earned Your Tomorrow?' This poem is divided into four stanzas, which are subdivided into sets of four lines quatrains. All these lines follow the rhyming pattern of aabbccaaddeeffaa.

The repetition of the 'ay' sound, which comes in the first, second, and fourth stanzas, has been employed to bring the text together. As the reader notices the opening, 'Have Non Earned Your Tomorrow,' he also notices that the narrative is characterized with questions aimed at the reader. Each verse comprises at least two, and frequently three, concerns about how one treats others. The poem also asks the reader probing questions about how they spend their days. The poem begins with the speaker asking a reader if they did anything to improve the day of another human being. He continues to ask if the reader has greeted their friends cheerfully or if he has wasted the day if he has left a trait of kindness or a scar of discontent.

The speaker probes the reader's behaviour more in the final two stanzas. Everyone should strive to give to others who lack hope and bravery. The speaker of the poem reminds the reader that God alone determines whether or not there will be a tomorrow. Therefore, if one wishes to see the following day, one should carefully evaluate their activities.
