2x2 – 10x + 5 = 0

Given, 2x2 – 10x + 5 = 0
On comparing it with the equation ax2 + bx + c = 0, we get,
a = 2, b = – 10, c = 5
By using formula,
x = `(-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a)`
= `-((-10)+- sqrt((-10)^2 - 4 xx 2 xx 5))/(2 xx 2)`
= `(10 +- sqrt(100 - 40))/4`
= `(10 +- 2sqrt(15))/4`
= `(10 +- 2 xx 3.873)/4`
= `(10 +- 7.758)/4`
Then, = `(10 + 7.758)/4 and (10 - 7.758)/4`
= `17.758/4 and 2.242/4`
= 4.4395 and 0.5605
Hence, x = 4.440 and 0.561
