प्रश्न
Solve the following:
`(x + 1)/4 = (x - 2)/3`
उत्तर
Given, `(x + 1)/4 = (x - 2)/3`
⇒ 3(x + 1) = 4(x – 2) ...[By cross-multiplication]
⇒ 3x + 3 = 4x – 8
⇒ 3x – 4x = – 8 – 3 ...[Transposing 4x to LHS and 3 to RHS]
⇒ –x = –11 ...[Dividing both sides by –1]
⇒ `(-x)/(-1) = (-11)/(-1)`
∴ x = 11
