Three functions of the Vice President:
(i) The Vice President is the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. He may suspend and adjourn the business of the House in case of grave disorder.
(ii) He regulates the debates and the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.
(iii) The Vice President can take over the position of the President in case of the latter’s death, resignation or impeachment. He acts as the President till a new President is elected.
