`CH_3COONa + H_2O -> CH_3COOH + NaOH`
`CH_3COO^(-) + Na^(+) + H_2O -> CH_3COOH + Na^(+) +OH^(-)`
`:. CH_3COO^(-1) + H_2O -> CH_3COOH + OH^(-)`
∵ `OH^(-)` are left in the solution
∴ Sodium acetate on hydrolysis gives basic solution.
