प्रश्न
What are the steps involved in writing the skeletal equation?
थोडक्यात उत्तर
उत्तर
The following are the steps involved in writing the skeletal equation:
- Write the symbols and formula of each of the reactants on the left-hand side (LHS) and join them by a plus (+) sign.
- Follow them by an arrow (→) which is interpreted as gives or forms.
- Write on the right-hand side (RHS) of the arrow the symbols and formula for each of the products.
- The equation thus written is called a skeleton equation (unbalanced equation).
- If the product is a gas it should be represented by an upward arrow (↑) and if it is a precipitate it should be represented by a downward arrow (↓).
- Example: Mg + H2SO2 → MgSO4 + H2 ↑
