After the death of her only son, Kisa Gotami was overwhelmed with sorrow. Unable to come to terms with this devastating loss, she found herself unable to think clearly. In a state of desperation, she wandered through her neighborhood, holding her lifeless child, and beseeched everyone she met to provide her with some medicine that could bring her child back to life.
