What do you infer from the law of segregation?

उत्तर

The law of segregation explains that the characteristics of an organism are determined by internal alleles that occur in pairs. These allele pairs separate during meiosis in gamete formation and the pair gets restored upon random fusion in zygote.

Explain Monohybrid cross

Long answer type question.

Explain with suitable example an independent assotrment.

A typical Mendelian dihybrid ratio of F2 generation is 3:1.

Independent inheritance of two separate traits, shape and colour of seeds in Mendel’s cross on pea plants resulted in a observable ratio of ______.

Pure-bred pea plant A is crossed with pure-bred pea plant B. It is found that the plants which look like A do not appear in the F1 generation but re-emerge in the F2 generation. Which of the plant's A and B are tall and dwarf?

Read the following and answer from given below:

Prashant wanted to find the genotype of a pea plant bearing purple coloured flowers in his kitchen garden. For this, he crossed purple-flowered plants with white-flowered plants. As a result, all plants which were produced had purple flowers only. Upon selfing these plants, 75 purple flower plants and 25 white flowers plants were produced. Now, he can determine the genotype of a purple-flowered plant by crossing it with a white-flowered plant.

In white-flowered plants, the allele is expressed in ______

A gene showing dominance has:

In order to obtain the F1 generation Mendel pollinated a pure-breeding tall plant with a pure breeding dwarf plant. But for getting the F2 generation, he simply self-pollinated the tall F1 plants. Why?

A green stemmed tomato plant denoted by (GG) is crossed with a tomato plant with purple stem denoted by (gg).

  1. What colour of the stem would you expect in their F1 progeny?
  2. In what ratio would you find the green and purple coloured stem in plants of F2 progeny?
  3. What conclusion can be drawn for the above observations?
