Single cell protein refers to dried microbial cells or total protein extracted from pure microbial cell culture. (Algae, bacteria, fungi, yeasts) which can be used as food supplements to humans. Sources are algae, fungi, yeast etc.
Significance:
1) It has high protein and low-fat content.
2) It is a good source of vitamin B complex.
