In 1923 there was a split in congress namely pro-changers and no-changers after the suspension of the Non-cooperation movement by Gandhi in 1922.
Pro-Changers:- The congressmen led by Motilal Nehru and C.R Das wanted to contest the elections and enter the legislature.
They had the notion that national interest could be promoted by working in the legislative councils under Dyarchy and wreck the colonial Government within.
They effectively used the legislature as a platform for the propagation of nationalist ideas.
No-Changers:- Staunch followers of Gandhi like Vallabhbhai Patel. C. Rajaji and others who wanted to continue non-cooperation with the Government.
