1. Wood is used on a very large scale for various purposes. Therefore, lumbering activity has been done in many places in the world.
2. It is majorly practised in the coniferous region, because of the following reasons:
- In the coniferous forests, only one species of trees is found in an area.
- These trees grow tall and have softwood.
3. In tropical evergreen forest, commercial lumbering cannot be done, because these forests are dense and have hardwood. For example, in equatiorial forests lumbering has not been well developed.
