Sulphide \[\ce{S}\] \[\ce{2^{-}}\]

Step I – Write each symbol with its valency.
Positive ion is written first
\[\ce{Cu}^{1+}\]  \[\ce{S}^{2-}\]
Step II – Interchange the valencies ignoring the signs.
