प्रश्न
You went for a study tour to Mahabaleshwar in the Western Ghats. On reaching there, you found a luxuriant vegetation and evergreen trees. What accounts for such a growth of vegetation? What type of forests did you find in the area? Name any three types of trees found there and their economic importance.
उत्तर
During a recent research tour in Mahabaleshwar, I noticed lush flora and evergreen trees. My teacher indicated that such vegetation and evergreen trees are found in locations with over 200 cm of annual rainfall, a short dry season, average yearly temperatures between 25°C and 27°C, and humidity levels above 77%. I discovered tropical evergreen forests there. These forests mostly include rosewood, ebony, and mahogany trees. Rosewood is commonly used to make furniture, floorboards, and waggon parts. It is a decorative wood used for carving and producing attractive plywood boards. Ebony is used for ornamental carving and ornamentation. Its applications include inlaying, musical instruments, sports items, piano keys, and caskets. Evergreen trees yield timber with considerable economic value.
