Explanation:

 –35 × 107 = –35 × (100 + 7) = (–35) × 100 + (–35) × 7  ......[Using distributive property, i.e. a × (b + c) = a × b + a × c]

= (–35) × 7 + (–35) × 100  ......[As addition is commutative, i.e. a + b = b + a]

Also, –35 × 107 = (–30 – 5) × 107  ......[∴ (–30 – 5) = (–35)]

Hence, –35 × 107 is not same as –35 × 7 + 100.
