Question

A block of mass 2.00 kg moving at a speed of 10.0 m/s accelerates at 3.00 m/s2 for 5.00 s. Compute its final kinetic energy.

Short Note

Solution

\[\text{ Mass of the block, M}_b = 2 kg\]
\[\text{ Initial speed of the block, u }= 10 \text{ m }/s\]
\[\text{ Also, } a = 3 \text{ m } / s^2\text{ and t}  = 5 s\]
\[\text{ Using the equation of the motion, we have } : \]
\[\nu = u + at\]
\[ = 10 + 3 \times 5 = 25 \text{ m/s }\]
\[ \therefore \text{ Final K . E . } = \frac{1}{2}m \nu^2 \]
\[ = \frac{1}{2} \times 2 \times 625 = 625 J\]
