Question
A bus is moving with a speed of 65 `1/2` km per hour. How much distance will it cover in 1 `1/3` hours.
Sum
Solution
Speed of bus per hour = 65`1/2`
`= (2 xx 65 + 1)/2 = (130 + 1)/2 = 131/2` km
Time taken = `1 1/3` hour = `4/3` hour
`= 131/2 xx 4/3 => 131/1 xx 2/3`
Distance covered = Speed × Time
`= 131/2 xx 4/3`
`= (131 xx 2)/(1 xx 3) = 262/3 = 87 1/3` km
