Question
A certain sample of gas has a volume of 0.2 L at one atmosphere pressure and 273.15 K. What is the volume of gas at 273.15°C at same pressure?
Options
5.406 L
2.703 L
0.4 L
0.2 L
MCQ
Solution
0.4 L
Explanation:
V1 = 0.2 L
V2 = ?
T1 = 237.15 K
T2 = 273.15 + 273.15 = 546.30 K
∴ According to Charle's law,
`"V"_1/"T"_1 = "V"_2/"T"_2` ......(at constant P and n)
∴ V2 = `("V"_1 xx "T"_2)/"T"_1`
= `(0.2 xx 546.30)/273.15`
= 0.4 L
