Question
A conical pit of top diameter 3.5 m is 12 m deep. What is its capacity in kilolitres?
`["Assume "pi=22/7]`
Solution
Radius (r) of pit = `(3.5/2) m` = 1.75 m
Height (h) of pit = Depth of pit = 12 m
Volume of pit = `1/3pir^2h`
= `[1/3xx22/7xx(1.75)^2xx12]cm^3`
= 38.5 m3
Thus, the capacity of the pit
= (38.5 × 1) kilolitres
= 38.5 kilolitres
