Question

A gardener bought 458 apple trees. He wants to plant 15 trees in each row. How many rows can he plant? How many trees would be leftover?

Sum

Solution

Total number of trees in a row = 15

Hence, number of rows = 458 ÷ 15

     30
`15")"overline458`
  – 450
        8
Here, quotient = 30 Remember = 8

So, 450 trees will be planted in 30 rows and 8 trees will be left.
