Question
Amanda's mother gives her a list of do's and don'ts. What impact does this have on Amanda?
Solution
Amanda finds it annoying that her mother constantly watches over her and gives her advice on what to do and what not to do. Amanda becomes apathetic towards her mother as a result of getting tired of being lectured constantly. Her lack of interest is a tacit protest against Amanda's mother's reprimands and sermons. The only way Amanda can stop the nagging is to shut it out and lose herself in her own imaginary world.
