Question
'Among producers and workers, the impact of globalization has not been uniform.' Support the statement with suitable arguments.
Solution
The impact of Globalisation on producers and workers has been different.
- Impact on producers:
- Globalisation has severely impacted small producers because they cannot compete with MNCs or large producers. Many workers now lack jobs due to the closure of several units.
- To remain competitive in the Indian market, large producers improve their production techniques. They either partnered with the MNC or increased their investment in more advanced production techniques and technology while raising their production standards.
- Globalisation has also significantly decreased the cost of producing goods. Due to market integration, the price of raw materials has been reduced.
- Impact on workers:
- The employment and workers' rights of thousands of small producers and employees have been compromised. In MNCs, employee jobs are no longer guaranteed. This caused the unorganised sector to grow.
- Conversely, Globalisation also positively impacted some regions' economic inequality and raised their income levels.
