The environment and natural resources are now a part of world politics to:

1. World's arable land is staying the same, and current farming areas are losing their fertility. Pollution, hunting, and overgrazing all make it very hard to grow food around the world.
2. Geopolitical battles over resources like water and oil have happened because people can't get to basic resources like clean water and forests are being cut down more and more around the world.
