1. Robespierre was one of the main leaders of the National Convention. He controlled the committee of public safety and eliminated his rivals.
2. He was honest, patriotic, and a person of integrity. But he became the dictator of the Convention, earned notoriety by sending many of his colleagues to the guillotine.
3. Under the law of suspects, a large group of persons were tried together and sentenced. This Terror lasted for forty-six days.
4. On 27 July 1794, the convention suddenly turned against Robespierre and his supporters. The Reign of Terror ended with the fall of Robespierre.
