The three problems are :
- Thermal electricity is produced from coal, petroleum, and natural gas which are exhaustible and non-renewable. It involves recurring costs.
- The process of generating electricity involves the burning of fuel. This causes water pollution.
- Burning of coal leaves a lot of waste in the form of fly ash, disposal of which adds to the cost of production.
