Question
Arrange the given rational numbers in descending order:
`5/8, 13/-16 "and" (-7)/12`
Sum
Solution
`5/8, 13/-16 "and" (-7)/12`
`= 5/8, (-13)/16 "and" (-7)/12`
`= (5 xx 6)/(8 xx 6), (-13 xx 3)/(16 xx 3) "and" (-7 xx 4)/(12 xx 4)`
(∵ LCM of 8, 16 and 12 = 48)
`= 30/48, (-39)/48` and `(-28)/48`
Since, 30 > - 28 > - 39
`therefore 30/48 > (-28)/48 > (-39)/48`
`=> 5/8 > (-7)/12 > (-13)/16`
