Question
Calculate CDR for district A and B.
Age group (in years) | District A | District B
Population | No.of.Deaths | Population | No.of.Deaths
0 - 10 | 1000 | 18 | 3000 | 70 |
10 - 55 | 3000 | 32 | 7000 | 50 |
Above 55 | 2000 | 41 | 1000 | 24 |
Solution
CDR = `(sum "D"_"i")/(sum "P"_"i") xx 1000`
For District A
`sum "D"_"i" = 18 + 32 + 41 = 91`
`sum "P"_"i" = 1000 + 3000 + 2000 = 6000`
∴ CDR for district A denoted by CDRA Is,
CDRA = `(sum "D"_"i")/(sum "P"_"i") xx 1000`
`= 91/6000 xx 1000`
` = 91/6 = 15.166` per thosand .
For District B
`sum "D"_"i" = 70 + 50 + 24 = 144`
`sum "P"_"i" = 3000 + 7000 + 1000 = 11000`
CDR for district B denoted by CDRB is ,
c= `(sum "D"_"i")/(sum "P"_"i") xx 1000`
`= 144/11000 xx 1000`
`= 144/11 = 13.09` per thosand
Observe that district B is more healthy than district A as CDRB < CDRA .
