Question
Can the number 8n, n being a natural number, end with the digit 0? Give reasons.
Sum
Solution
For a number to end with digit 0 its prime factorisation should have 2 and 5 as a common factor.
(8)n = (23)n = (23n)
8n does not have 5 in its prime factorization.
∴ 8n can not end with the digit 0.
