i. Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey: He is a Sportsman turned legendary soldier. He showed exceptional courage and inspired his troops to capture the Jubar Top however succumbed to wounds incurred. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
ii. Naib Subedar Yogendra Singh Yadav: During the Kargil War, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav of the 18th Grenadiers Battalion was instrumental in capturing three important bunkers on Tiger Hill with his Ghatak Commando Platoon in the early morning hours of July 4, 1999.
iii. Captain Vijyant Thapar: Among many brave warriors of the Kargil war, one was Captain Vijayant Thapar of Rajputana Rifles, who along with his Platoon was tasked to capture a feature in the Dras Sector. He valiantly led the attack and also successfully captured the enemy position before being martyred on June 28, 1999. He was awarded the gallant award Vir Chakra posthumously.
iv. Major Padmapani Acharya: On 28 June 1999, in the battalion attack on the Tololing feature by the 2nd Rajputana Rifles, Major Padmapani Acharya as a Company Commander, was assigned the formidable task of capturing an enemy position which was heavily fortified and strongly held with minefield. With utter disregard to his personal safety, Major Padmapani Acharya took the reserve platoon and led it through raining artillery shells.
v. Captain Vikram Batra: It was the daring capture of the crucial peak point 5140 during the war that brought Batra to public attention. Captain Vikram Batra PVC (Param Vir Chakra) is always known for the valour and courage he showed during the 1999 Kargil War. He was the war hero and helped India win by leading the war on one of the toughest mountains in history. His code name ‘Sher Shah’ (Meaning- Lion King) has been etched in the history of the Indian Army.
