Question

Define the molar conductance of a solution. State its unit. How is it related to the specific conductance of a solution?

Short Note

Solution

Molar conductance: It is defined as the conductance of all ions produced from one mole of an electrolyte dissolved in a definite volume of the solution.
Its unit is ohm-1 cm2 mol-1. Molar conductance ∧m is related to specific conductance k by the following equation:

`∧_m = (k xx 1000)/M`

where k is specific conductance and M is a molar concentration of the solution.
