  Haplontic life cycle Diplontic life cycle 
Gametophyte phase  Dominant photosynthetic independent Recessive represented by the zygote. Recessive represented by single to few celled stage. 
Sporophytic phase Zygote undergoes meiosis to restore haploidy. Zygote develop in to dominant sporophyte.
  e.g. Volvox.Spirogyra e.g. Fucus, Gymnosperm, Angiosperm.
