(i) Erythrocytes have a distinct form that is either elliptical or oval. Because leucocytes are amoeboid, they have no distinct shape.
(ii) They have been nucleated. They are nucleated.
(iii) Because erythrocytes contain haemoglobin, they appear red. Leucocytes lack respiratory pigmentation and thus appear colourless.
(iv) The normal erythrocyte count ranges from 4.3 to 5.8 million per cubic millimetre of blood. The normal leucocyte count per cubic mm of blood is 4000 to 11000.
(v) Erythrocytes have a lifespan of 100 to 120 days. Leucocytes have a lifespan of 3 to 4 days.
