Draw a T.S. of a young anther of an angiosperm. Label the different layers of the wall and write their functions.
Solution
(i) It is generally surrounded by four wall layers the epidermis, endothecium, middle layers and the tapetum.
(ii) Tho outer three wall layers perform the function at protection and help in dehiscenceof anther to release the pollen.
(ii) The innermost wall layer is the tapetum. It nourishes the developing pollen grains.
