Excess of Mn in soil leads to defeciency of Ca, Mg and Fe. Explain.
Solution
Manganese competes with iron and magnesium for uptake and magnesium for binding to specific enzymes. It also inhibits calcium translocation in the shoot apex. Hence, excess magnesium may induce Ca, Mg, and Fe deficiency.
