Question

Explain the following factor affecting the rate of corrosion:
Relative areas of anode and cathode.

Short Note

Solution

Relative areas of anode and cathode: If the anodic area is very small as compared to cathodic area, corrosion occurs. The reason is current density at a smaller anodic area is much greater and the demand for electron by the cathodic area.
