There are several factors that contribute to the digital divide. There are following some of the factors which contribute to this divide:

1. Relevant Content - One of the reasons why some people do not use Internet technologies because the content is not relevant and interesting to them.
2. Age - It seems to be that young people feel more comfortable with the new technology and are able to benefit from it more than older people. Older people are less likely to have a computer and are less likely to be interested in using the Internet.
3. Lack of ICT Skills and Support - People in many disadvantaged groups do not have proper skills about new modern technology.
4. Attitudinal Factors - This is derived from cultural and behavioural attitudes towards technology. Many people thought that new technologies are harmful for young generation.
5. Gender - It is stated that in some countries and organisations, females have less access to the Internet than males.
