Question
Explain the role of histones in forming a nucleosome.
Solution
(i) Histones are positively charged basic proteins which are organised to form a unit of eight molecules called histone octamer.
(ii) Histones are rich in the basic amino acids residues lysines and arginines which carry positive charges in their side chains.
