- In 1971, India and Pakistan went to war again, in this war, Pakistan was defeated and East Pakistan was created as an independent country of Bangladesh.
- After this in 1972 Simla Agreement was signed between India and Pakistan. The agreement was signed between the Prime Minister of India at that time Mrs. Indira Gandhi and the Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
- The agreement was based on the principle of trying to resolve the conflict between India and Pakistan bilaterally.
- This agreement created a new framework for the exchange of land between India and Pakistan.
