Primary socialization: The most critical process of socialization happens in the early years. This learning in the early years is termed as primary socialization. Primary socialization takes place in infancy and childhood and involves intense cultural learning. A child gets acquainted with values, customs, behavioural norms and manners. It is an informal process.
Example: Family is the main agent of primary socialization. Peer group and neighbourhood is also seen as a primary socializing agency.
