• Division of Work:

1. The whole work is divided into small tasks.
2. It is known as Departmentation.
3. The specialization of the workforce according to the skills of a person.
4. Specialization leads to an increase in the efficiency of labour.
5. Thus productivity increased.

• Authority and Responsibility:

1. Authority means the right of a superior given to the subordinate to get work from him.
2. Responsibility means an obligation for performance.

• Discipline:

1. It is obedience, proper conduct, in relation to others, respect of authority, etc.
2. It is essential for the smooth functioning of all organizations.

• Unity of Command:

1. One Employee should have only one Boss.
2. Each employee should receive orders from one superior.
3. If an employee receives orders from more than one superior, it leads to confusion and conflict.

• Scalar chain [Line of Authority]:

1. The line of Authority must flow downwards from the Highest Executive to lower-level workers. [Top to Bottom]
2. It is also known as the “Chain of Command”.

• Remuneration:

1. Workers must be paid sufficiently.
2. It is the chief motivation of employees.
3. It influences greater productivity.
4. Remuneration should be fair, reasonable, and rewarding of effort.

• Unity of Direction:

1. All related activities should be put under one group.
2. There should be one plan of action for them.
3. They should be under the control of one Manger.
