Question

Explain why it is not safe to go out with an umbrella when there is heavy rain, lightning or thunder.

Explain

Solution

  1. Heavy rain and thundering are accompanied by lightning. Lightning is basically the discharge of huge amounts of electric charge from clouds towards the ground.
  2. These charges may pass through the metallic rod of the umbrella to the person carrying it. Hence, the person might get severe electric shock and die.
  3. Thus, it is not advisable and safe to go out with an umbrella when there is heavy rain, lightning or thunder.
