Question

Factorize each of the following expressions:
x3 − y2 + x − x2y2

Sum

Solution

\[x^3 - y^2 + x - x^2 y^2 \]
\[ = ( x^3 + x) - ( x^2 y^2 + y^2 )\] [Regrouping the expressions]
\[ = x( x^2 + 1) - y^2 ( x^2 + 1)\]
\[ = (x - y^2 )( x^2 + 1)\] [Taking ( x^2 + 1) as the common factor]
