Question
Find out through internet and popular science articles whether animals other than man have self-consciousness.
Solution
Nature selects for fitness. The so-called fitness is based on the characteristics of the organism which are hereditary. Therefore, there must be a genetic basis for selection and evolution. This means that those organisms (animals) are better adapted to survive in adverse environments. Adaptability is hereditary. The self-consciousness of organisms plays an important role in adaptation. The final result of adaptability and natural selection is fitness. According to biologists, many animals have non-human self-consciousness.
