Find the area and Perimeter of the following figure, if area of small square is 1 sq cm.
Solution
In the given figure, there are 11 small squares.
Given, area of 1 small square = 1 sq cm
∴ Area of 11 small squares = 11 × Area of a small square .....[∵ Area of square = SIde × Side]
= 11 × 1 sq cm
= 11 sq cm
Also, side of a small square = 1 cm
Now, perimeter of the given figure = Sum of all its sides
= (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) cm
= 16 cm
