Question

Find the difference between the greatest and the least 5-digit number that can be written using the digits 6, 2, 7, 4, and 3 each only once.

Sum

Solution

Given numbers = 6, 2, 7, 4, 3

To make the greatest number by combining these digits, the given digits are written in descending order like = 76,432

To make the smallest number by combining these digits, the given digits are written in increasing order like = 23,467.

Hence difference of two numbers = bigger number − smaller number

= 76,432 − 23,467

= 52,965

The difference between the greatest and smallest numbers formed from the given digits will be 52,965.
