Question
Find the solution of the linear equation x + 2y = 8 which represents a point on y-axis.
Solution
The linear equation which lies on the y-axis has its abscissa 0.
Now, Putting x = 0 in the equation x + 2y = 8, we get:
x + 2y = 8
0 + 2y = 8
`y = 8/2`
y = 4
