Child 3: How happy we are here!
(Children run around joyfully, playing and laughing.)
  • Scene 2: The Giant Returns
Narrator: One day, the giant returned after seven years.

Giant: No one will play here except me! (puts up signboard)
Board:  "TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED!"

Spring: (peeking in) No children here... I’ll stay away.
  • Scene 5: The Giant Sitting at the Window
Giant: (Confused) Why doesn't spring ever come to my garden?
Narrator: The garden remained in eternal winter.
