Give an account of Alauddin Khilji’s Deccan conquest.
Solution
Alauddin was the first Muslim ruler to send an expedition to the Deccan. This expedition was led by Malik Kafur, who defeated the rulers of Devagiri Warangal and Dwarasamudra and attacked and plundered Madurai in the far South. Thus Alauddin becomes the first Turkish ruler to extend his influence, south of the Vindhyas.
