Question

Give geographical reason:

There is correlation between the density of metals and their location in the interior of the earth.

Give Reasons

Solution

  1. Earth’s interior is not uniform and consists of different materials with different physical and chemical properties.
  2. As it is known that the materials with less density float over the materials with large density, the stratification of the earth’s interior also holds the same.
  3. The crust is the outermost layer of the earth because it is lighter than the mantle and core.
  4. The core is the innermost layer and has a density greater than the crust and mantle.
  5. In the earth's centre, transitional areas exist between continental crust and oceanic crust, crust and mantle,  mantle and core, and outer core and inner core. As a result, discontinuities exist within the earth's interior.
