Question
How does geitonogamy differ from xenogamy?
Distinguish Between
Solution
Parts of the ovule include a prominent megaspore mother cell; (a) a dyad and a tetrad of megaspores; (b) stages of the embryo sac with 2, 4, and 8 nuclei, culminating in a mature embryo sac, and (c) a diagrammatic illustration of the mature embryo sac. Geitonogamy refers to the transfer of pollen from the anther of one flower to the stigma of another flower on the same individual plant. In contrast, xenogamy happens when pollen from one bloom's anther is transported to the stigma of another flower from the same species.
